About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer based in Peoria, IL. In this role, you would be responsible for creating initial designs of construction equipment for off-highway haul trucks. Develop core ideas for customized products by engaging in extensive consultation with customers to identify equipment needs, performance expectations, and related business goals. Working in collaboration with other engineering and production associates, will take the lead in creating designs and blueprints that meet the customer specifications. May facilitate modifications to existing designs or products, to improve performance or to integrate new technology. Additionally, responsible for the recalibration and efficiency evaluation of products. Success in this role will require strong innovative thinking/creativity; intellectual curiosity; collaboration with team members; a clear, confident, and flexible communication style; strong detail orientation; and the relentless pursuit of excellence in the quality of work produced. Successful candidates will have a strong aptitude for innovative thinking and solving both abstract and mechanical problems. Key Success Factors for this Role:
- Interest and aptitude in engineering as well as ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Able to identify and collect the information required to develop accurate equipment specifications.
- Able to Coordinate efforts with other engineering and production associates to ensure that the design is created in accordance with what is required.
- Effectively consider a wide range of factors to ensure that the design is realistically possible.
- Willing to maintain a constructive, open dialogue with project team members and other pertinent stakeholders.
- Able to ask clear probing questions of customers/end-users to identify equipment performance expectations.
- Strong understanding of/interest in the off-highway hauling and/or heavy equipment industries.
- Able to adapt interpersonal style to effectively interact with individuals of differing backgrounds and personalities.
- Can manage multiple tasks and activities.
- Drive to continually learn and develop professionally.
