Data Breach of PHIL Email - Philippi-Hagenbuch, Inc.
Our Beloved Pat Hagenbuch 1942 - 2021

November 6, 2018

It has come to our attention that the PHIL Email system was compromised by hackers in August 2018 via access to a cloud based system managed by Microsoft. Access to inbound and outbound email was restricted to legitimate PHIL Associates as of Monday, November 5, 2018. At this time, it is not believed that access to the PHIL network, files, databases, telephony, fax system, website or social media accounts has been compromised, but information contained within email sent to and by Associates of Philippi-Hagenbuch, Inc. From 8/9/2018 and 11/5/2018 may have been accessed.

Information that may have been learned through this successful hacking attempt may include:

  • Names of people communicating with PHIL through email
  • Addresses
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Orders, Invoices, PO Numbers, Invoice Numbers, Order Amounts
  • Information contained within emails

PHIL does not email credit card numbers via email.

Please be vigilant in electronic forms of communication and be on guard for social-engineered hacking attempts. PHIL will not unilaterally change payment terms or how a payment should be made without verbally speaking with you first, followed up by an email. Our standard form of receiving funds for USA based companies is through a paper check. If you have a question about payment terms or a request to change payment styles to a "wire transfer", please contact Josh Swank, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at +1 (309) 697-9200.

All contact information should be able to be confirmed on the PHIL website at https://www.philsystems.com. The domains that PHIL uses includes philsystems.com, connect.philsystems.com, philmybox.com, philgear.net and phil.news. When communicating with PHIL Associates, all email addresses will come from an @philsystems.com or @welarco.com domain (note, not an @phillsystems.com domain - with two L's).

This incident has been reported to the FBI's Cyber Crime Unit and we are feverishly working to find and prosecute those involved to the fullest extent of the law.

For information on this, please contact Josh Swank at Philippi-Hagenbuch, Inc. at +1 (309) 697-9200.
