Sideboard Installation
Installation of the PHIL Sideboards can be handled in one of three ways:
- Sideboard to Body Installation at PHIL factory in Peoria, Illinois
- Field Installation with PHIL Supervisory Assistance
- Self Installation by dealer or customer
For installations taking place away from the PHIL factory, the following items are needed:
- One (1) to Two (2) qualified welders with welding equipment
- One (1) helper to assist with the installation
- Lifting device capable of lifting up to 1,000 pounds
- Safe ladders or scaffolding
- Misc. hand tools and blocking
- Dry, low hydrogen E70XX iron powder coated welding rods (or comparable wire)
- Touch-up paint
PHIL Sideboards are "trim to fit", requiring the front of each sideboard to be trimmed for proper fit against the front slope of the truck body. The length of the inside, outside and front and back of the sideboards are required to be fully welded to the truck body.
Approximate Installation Time:

| On Trucks 60 - 100 Ton in Size: | 25 - 35 man hours +/- |
| On Trucks 100 - 250 Ton in Size: | 35 - 50 man hours +/- |
| On Trucks 250 - 400 Ton in Size: | 50 - 75 man hours +/- |
The time required to install a set of PHIL Sideboards will be directly related to organization, the number and skill set of people involved, accessibility to lifting equipment, and familiarity with trimming steel and welding. As with any product, if someone on the installation team has installed sideboards before, the installation often goes more smoothly and quickly than when a team that has not installed sideboards before and is assigned the task.
