This relates generally to off-highway trucks and more particularly to a method of calculating the estimated volumetric carrying capacity of the body of an off-highway truck.

This method provides for a dump body which is designed for specific field operating environments and for designing off-highway dump bodies taking into account the actual field conditions. More specifically, to provide a process for three-dimensional modeling of required dump body loads and the related design of dump bodies based on actual field conditions at particular sites.

Designing dump bodies which more accurately take into account field loading/haulage conditions by gathering data from actual field environments. From this data a three dimensional model of the load is generated and used to design the truck body to achieve the desired volume and distribution of weight on the truck chassis.
Method of Estimating the Volumetric Carrying Capacity of a Truck Body
By using site specific information to generate a three dimensional model of the load, the haulage body can be dimensioned to be filled to capacity in four or less passes of the loading shovel by distributing the material into the body centered with minimal falling distance of the material.
